Summer Open Studios 2017
August 24th, 6-9PM
Celebrating our Summer Residency Season. See new work by residents from Helsinki, Tokyo, and New York - including the special one-day-only collaborative project Pinch, Fold, Cut, Line.
Pinch, Fold, Cut, Line by Cheryl Wing-Zi Wong and Henna-Riikka Halonen is an installation that will transform the artists’ studio spaces into a disorienting, ever-expanding environment woven with several vignettes. The divisions within the space are porous, and the narratives are filled with holes, allowing for circulation between spaces and times, and exploring how one should interact in shared or private rooms, as well as how sex and race politics are embedded in domestic objects and space.
Aya Momose uses video to reveal the relationship between one’s body and voice and urges us to reassess their relationship.
Chloe Bass is a conceptual artist working in performance, situation, publication, and installation. Her work addresses scales of intimacy, where patterns hold and break as group sizes expand, and daily life as a site of deep research.
